Warren W. Byrne, President & CEO
Warren Byrne is co-founder and CEO of Foresight Wind Energy. His combination of high-level experience in financial analysis, marketing and strategic planning with major corporations; career long dedication to the development of sustainable energy solutions; and strong environmental science and policy credentials have helped him emerge as a leader in the development of markets for renewable power. Mr. Byrne brings 14 years of energy industry experience, including positions with Booz, Allen & Hamilton’s Energy and Chemicals and Utilities Groups, Caithness Energy, and Environmental Defense. He has consulted to major companies in diverse industries including consumer goods, telecommunications, environmental services, consumer credit, agriculture, transportation, and energy. For the past ten years, Mr. Byrne has focused exclusively on opportunities for renewable power. At Foresight Energy Company, a consulting firm and the predecessor company to Foresight Wind Energy, he and his partners played an important role in increasing the size of California’s renewable power market during deregulation and authored key renewable power subsidy legislation. They also developed power purchase contracting and financial and risk management structures that are now widely used for green power transactions. Mr. Byrne holds a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Liberal Studies from the University of California in Santa Barbara, and a Master’s of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies where he was awarded the Switzer Environmental Leader Fellowship. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of NGV EcoTrans, an alternative fuel vehicle systems company.
Todd D. Thorner, Executive Vice President
Todd Thorner is a co-founder of Foresight Wind Energy and currently serves as Executive Vice President overseeing project development and business development activities. Mr. Thorner leads project origination and greenfield development for the bulk of Foresight’s current project portfolio. He has over 12 years of experience in the electric power industry. Prior to co-founding Foresight, Mr. Thorner worked in a number of a capacities in energy policy and utility consulting, power marketing, and project development support to the independent power producer (IPP) industry. He also had positions at the World Bank from 1996 - 1997 and then at Pace Global Energy Services in Fairfax, Virginia from 1998 - 2001. At the World Bank, Mr. Thorner worked in the Industry & Energy group and assisted the Bank in developing its Environmental Strategy for the Energy Sector. At Pace, Mr. Thorner provided a wide range of consulting and forecasting support to electric utilities, IPPs developing electric power projects, and bank providing financial services to the industry. In 1997, Mr. Thorner earned a Masters in Energy and Environmental Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, DC. He has his BA from Wesleyan University.
Paul Andrae, Vice President, Strategy & Transmission
Paul Andrae has more than twenty-five years of wide-ranging experience in the energy industry. His work spans the oil and gas exploration sector, generation and transmission development within the utility sector, project management, marketing and trading responsibilities within the oil and gas exploration and power sectors, and strategic energy supply and development within the primary metals and chemical industry. As Vice President of Strategy & Transmission at Foresight, Mr. Andrae focuses on transmission planning for Foresight’s portfolio of projects, developing marketing strategies for the project’s output and providing power market analysis in those geographic regions in which Foresight’s projects are located. Prior to working with Foresight, Mr. Andrae served as Director of Transmission Planning and Market Analysis for the non-jurisdictional arm of a leading Southwest electric utility where his activities included transmission development for IPP generation projects and generation development. Paul also had responsibility for the successful development of natural gas pipeline and natural gas processing plant development on behalf of industrial and oil and gas exploration firms. Mr. Andrae was a leader in the development of one of the first large scale industrial co-generation facility on the Gulf Coast. Mr. Andrae holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a MS in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a JD from Loyola University in New Orleans.
Amy LeGere, Director, Development & Government Relations
As Director of Development and Government Relations for Foresight, Amy LeGere’s role spans the spectrum of development services from initial public outreach through critical path management to turn-key delivery. Prior to Foresight, Ms. LeGere owned and operated a successful consulting firm with a focus on renewable energy, strategic market and business development, sustainable economic development, and public policy. During her career, Ms. LeGere was responsible for corporate communications and internet strategy for W.L. Gore & Associates, and advertising services for a Gannet daily newspaper. She received her MBA for Executives from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University in 2002, and a BA in Marketing Communications from the University of Minnesota. Ms. LeGere is based in Foresight’s Flagstaff, Arizona office. She currently serves on the Boards of the Coconino County Sustainable Economic Development Initiative and the Coconino Community College Foundation, and is a former Board member of the Greater Flagstaff Economic Council.
Brad Smith, Director, Development
Brad Smith has ten years experience in project management, resource management, budgeting and administration. Mr. Smith is Director of Operations at Foresight Wind Energy where he is focused on creating and maintaining all functional aspects of the operation of the company. Prior to Foresight, Mr. Smith was a Technical Manager in the Network Security Department of Wells Fargo Bank where he managed a team of project managers and engineers tasked with deploying network security solutions for a multitude of bank lines of business. The group was tasked with architecting and deploying secure dedicated connections to all third party vendors and customers over which vast amounts of transactions would traverse. Prior to that, he was an Account Manager for INX International Ink Co. where he managed a multi-million dollar account with a large printer in the Bay Area. Mr. Smith has a BA in Environmental Economics from Kalamazoo College.
Grant Brummels, Senior Manager, Technical Services
Grant Brummels is the Senior Manager of Technical Services and brings five years of experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency research. Prior to Foresight, Mr. Brummels was a Research Assistant and Spatial Analyst for Northern Arizona University’s Sustainable Energy Solutions Group where he focused on state-wide wind assessment and Arizona’s Anemometer Loan Program. He also did work on tribal wind development and wind-desalination opportunities which earned him guest speaking engagements at wind and GIS conferences. He parlayed this experience to found Energy Map Solutions, a GIS and geo-spatial consulting company, before being hired full time by Foresight. Mr. Brummels holds a BS in Environmental Sciences with a Minor in Business Administration, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science.
Bill Love, Manager, Operations
Bill Love brings wide-ranging business management, development and entrepreneurial experience to his role as Manager, Operations at Foresight Wind Energy. Over his eighteen year career, he has run the business side of a multi-million dollar television and licensing project at Sesame Workshop, co-founded an award winning children’s video production and distribution company, and conceived and helped establish a real estate brokerage office and a coffee/salad/sandwich restaurant concept with three locations in Westchester County, New York. Mr. Love has a long standing interest in the renewable energy sector. He was a co-founder of the Pelham Global Task Force Committee and participates in the Sierra Club’s Bay Chapter Energy Committee. Mr. Love received a BA from Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs with an International Business concentration.
Chris Cadwell, Associate
Chris Cadwell works in the San Francisco office and supports management in areas of Financial Modeling, Power Marketing and Prospecting. Mr. Cadwell covers the renewable energy market for Foresight and provides insight into renewable energy demand for portfolio projects and prospects. Mr. Cadwell manages third party financial modeling in addition to running project and portfolio wide financial models in house. Before joining Foresight Mr. Cadwell worked on a Commercial Loans team for Millennium Private Bank in Colorado. He received his BA from Middlebury College in International Politics and Economics.
